 MSHL Seniors meet the 2nd Friday of every month for breakfast at the Lighthouse Coffee Co. on 9 W. Main St. in Milan starting at 8:30am. 


Milan Seniors for Healthy Living would like to give a special thanks to Joe and Myrna Porter for the generous donation of a treadmill for our exercise room.

PATH-Personal Action  Toward Health, Fridays 10:45 a.m., February 1, 8, 15, and March 1 and 8, 2013.  Milan Seniors for Healthy Living at 45 Neckel Ct in Milan invites you to a six-week workshop designed to provide the skills and confidence needed by people living with ongoing health problems to improve their health and manage their symptoms. As a result, people are better equipped to face the daily challenges of living with a chronic condition. Two trained leaders conduct the workshop (one or both may have a life-long health condition). Tuesday, February 12th at 12:00 noon, please join Milan Seniors for Healthy Living at 45 Neckel Ct, Milan, MI, 48160, for a Soup Eat In and Game Day. We will have over nine different varieties of soup donated by several of our members.  Delicious bread, beverages, and dessert will also be provided.  Cost is $5.00 and you can pre-register by calling 734-508-6229.






Wednesday, February 13th at 11am-12pm Health N.E.W.S. is a Free program that provides an individual health check as well as healthy lifestyle information.  Sponsored by Monroe county Health Dept.



Thursday, February 14that 11am join Milan Seniors for Healthy Living at 45 Neckel Ct, Milan, MI, 48160, for a regular lunch for only $3 and enjoy the festivities of Valentine’s Day with your MSHL friends.  Pre-register by calling 734-508-6229, by Wednesday, February 13th at noon.



Wednesday, February 20th-by appointment only.  The AARP Foundation is offering Free Income Tax Preparation for taxpayers with low and moderate income with special attention to those ages 60 and older at Milan Seniors for Healthy Living, 45 Neckel Ct, Milan, MI, 48160.   Call 734-508-6229 to schedule an appointment.

Senior Nutrition Program

In partnership with the Washtenaw County Senior Nutrition Program, we offer a nutritionally balanced meal three afternoons a week – Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 11:45 am.  We do ask for 48 hour advanced reservations.  Please call or stop by the office. There is a suggested donation of $3.00 for anyone who is 60+ years of age, and a fee of $5.50 for anyone under the age of 60.


Birthday Celebration

Next month our birthday celebration will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2013.  All members of Milan Seniors for Healthy Living who have a birthday this month are invited to come celebrate their birthdays with us and lunch is on us. If you do not have your 2013 membership yet, join today.  If you are not a member, please join us anyway.  It’s a great opportunity to check out the senior center, celebrate a birthday and meet some wonderful people.


Lunch & Learn Seminars

Our “Lunch & Learn” Seminars take place once or twice a month at 11am and are designed to bring a variety of helpful information right to you. An optional lunch (for a suggested donation of $3.00) follows each seminar. (Please be sure to reserve your meal 48 hrs in advance).

Fitness Opportunities

We have a variety of exercise classes and opportunities to encourage a physically active lifestyle. Currently, MSHL offers Enhance Fitness classes, Line Dance, Tap, and Jazz classes, and Tai Chi classes. Also available to our members is our exercise room equipped with treadmills, bicycles, elliptical, cardio glide, free weights, and more.





The Out to Lunch Bunch is open to everyone interested in going to area restaurants for a Dutch treat lunch. In a slight departure from our previous excursion policy, membership is no longer required but our members receive a discounted price. Typically, we meet on the third Tuesday of each month and take our senior bus. The following is a schedule of where we will visit in the following months.


Tues., Feb. 19 – Big Bear Lodge, Brownstown, MI    $16 member/ $20 non-member

Depart 11:00 am – Return 2:30pm   Welcome to Big Bear Lodge, where the food’s hearty, the campfire’s warm and the people are friendly.  We invite you to join us for a delicious meal, hot from our wood burning oven, in the rustic charm of our log cabin lodge.  And, if Woodrow the Bear swings by your table, be sure to say hello!


Tues., March 19 – Ruby Tuesday, Saline, MI

$10 member/ $12.50 non-member

The Ann Arbor Concert Band was founded in 1978, has performed in the most prestigious of concert venues. While the band is a non-profit organization with all members being volunteers from the community, the standards of performance and organization are strictly professional.  Dutch Lunch at Knight’s Steakhouse prior to show.

Monroe County Health Dept Diabetes Education Program meets with us to provide diabetes education in these meetings.

All seniors in the Milan area are cordially invited to participate in the Milan Senior Citizen’s Club activities. We meet each 1st and 3rd Friday of the month throughout the year. Our monthly get-togethers consist of a potluck dinner, followed by a short business meeting, followed by Bingo and Euchre games.  Our fun-filled evenings are held in the Great Room at the MilanSeniorCenter. Members usually begin arriving at 5:00pm, using the rear door, and eat at 5:30pm. The evening normally ends before 9:00pm, so it doesn’t get too late for anyone. Please bring your own table service and utensils.



Massage Therapy  Every Monday from 8:30am until noon, licensed massage therapist Mary Pearce is here at MSHL offering the wonderful and healing gift of massage therapy. MSHL Member cost: $20 for 30 minutes – $40 for one hour(This service is also available for non-members for an additional $5 charge.)Appointments are required and can be scheduled by calling Mary at  734-358-5836

Blood Pressure Check

On Thursdays from 10:30am till noon, HVA paramedics will take blood pressure readings on a walk-in basis. ALL  ARE WELCOME.

Hearing Aid Service

On the second Monday of each month from 10:00am until 11:30am, Miracle Ear will service your hearing aid (regardless of the brand) and will offer hearing testing  (if requested in advance).
