Know Your Candidates Forum

As we face difficult times economically, it is even more important to know your vote before you go to the election booth on Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

For the past several elections The Milan Area Chamber of Commerce has conducted a Candidates Forum, as a courtesy to our citizens.

Tuesday, October 22 we encourage all voters who live within the City of Milan to attend the forum that will take place within the Council Chambers, at 147 Wabash St.  The forum begins at 7:00 p.m.  A forum gives the public an opportunity to hear first hand, answers by the candidates to questions pertinent to issues concerning Milan.

Candidates running for Office of the Mayor, will be Michael Armitage, the current Mayor Pro-Tem.  Armitage remains unchallenged.

Vying for seats on the council are incumbents, Doug Gilson and Dominic Hamden against challengers, Joseph Chapin and Ann Gee.

Each candidate will be given ample time to respond to pre written questions that were submitted by business owners across the commercial, retail and industrial arena, as well as various leaders, who have invested a lot of time and resources into Milan.

The moderator for the evening, as well as the questions will not be revealed until that evening.

A handout will be made available to those in attendance, including bio’s, with photos of each candidate who submits it timely.  We encourage citizens to take notes of the various responses.  At the end of the forum, a short time will be scheduled, allowing for questions from the floor on issues that may not have been addressed.
