Three Milan High School students were recognized by the Board of Education at the June 11 meeting.  Junior Christian Miller was commended with a certificate for his impressive accomplishment of achieving a perfect composite score of 36 on the ACT.
Miller said he was pleased to receive the certificate.  He said, “It’s always great to be recognized for something you work hard at.”
Senior Nate Pyle and junior Harry Ervin were presented with certificates of achievement in recognition of serving the district as School Board Student Representatives for the 2013-2014 school year.
Superintendent of Schools Bryan Girbach commented how he mentored the young men, and what a great job they did.  School board president Eric Peacock made the presentations.
Also presenting that night was Misty Raatz of Fanning Howey, an architectural engineering firm that presented the board with a grand prize winning award for architectural excellence displayed in the building and utilization of the  Milan Center for Innovative Study.
She praised the center for its greenhouse, components to support curriculum, active décor, training and the transition from a regular classroom setting to the innovative center for senior learning. Raatz said, “Other communities now look to Milan.”
