Boys Make District Finals, Again!!!

By Balinda Zimmerman

The Milan Varsity Soccer team has been working their way through the District playoff games and Finals hoping for Regional’s. On Tuesday, October 20, 2015 the Big Reds walked through Romulus as if they were a college team playing against high school.  Not taking anything away from Romulus as it was a fast action game for both teams but Milan was the more accurate team, repeatedly gaining control and scoring solid points.
The final score was 8-0 when the game was called with 31.49 left on the clock in the second period. Milan players scoring against Romulus were Stephen Satarino (1) Goal (1) Assist, Mason Kulikowski (3) Goals, Bing Schaefer (2) Goals, (1) Assist, Sean Reid (2) Assists, Conner Messina (1) Goal (2) Assists, and Jacob Johnson (1) Assist.  Romulus added score number 8 for Milan when a player inadvertently hit the ball in while trying to block the kick from Milan.
Playing for Milan in the playoffs this season are all the Varsity members as well as the following 6 players who were pulled from Junior Varsity: Bailey Williams, Zach Errer, Cade Wallace, Logan Obey, Kobie Burd, and Isaac Jackson.
Milan faced Tecumseh in Adrian on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 5pm for the second round of District Finals.  Coach Simon Evans is proud of his team and how they “played to a scoreless draw all the way through regulation and overtime and then lost in the penalty kick tie breaker.”  Coach Evans reiterated that the team “didn’t concede one goal in the three district games except for the PK’s at the end.” Tecumseh will next face Divine Child in the Regional’s.  This is the second year that Milan Boys Soccer has made it to Districts and in 2013 they made it all the way to Regional’s.
