Eternity Matters: WORRY & NEGATIVITY WON’T CHANGE THE NATIVITY

By Norma Shull Smith

Recently I woke up to, THE SPOKEN WORD! Did God not speak the world into existence? As I laid there in the early morning hours and pondered on this question, it became very apparent to me that God was relaying an important message to me. I believe it wasn’t only for me, but for any who will read this.
We live in a very negative society and even churched people are in the habit of SPEAKING bad things into their lives. I couldn’t help but think about that scripture that says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
As we enter the Christmas Season, there is no gift we could receive, better than the gift of being a positive person!
When we are positive and see the glass 1/2 full instead of empty, we become a gift to others. It is like contagious laughter. Think about it; do you like to keep company with a person that is always negative? Negativity brings us down, being positive lifts our spirits and that of others! The Christmas Season is often anything but joyful for those whose loved one passed that year, or they lost a job, or they have a bad health diagnosis, yet I have found we can live above the darkness handed to us by being positive. After all, worry, and negativity won’t change the true meaning of Christmas, which is the NATIVITY!
Some churched people have become as the world speaking negatives into their lives and those negatives often come to fruition. This Christmas Season I challenge you to read the accounting of creation in the first Chapter of Genesis and underline how many times the words are used, “God Said and God Called!” That means God used his mouth to bring things forth!
We humans are just that, human, and God understands our mentality. When we have a problem, we DWELL in that problem and that becomes our vocabulary and we begin to complain and grumble and “oh is me,” about situations that we should just relinquish once and for all to God and walk in the peace that HE IS ABLE! That is hard to do, but when I read in Proverbs 21:23, “Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity,” I can’t help but think that God wants us to have a RENEWING OF OUR MINDS and of our mouths. After all didn’t he say in the book of John “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
Today, be diligent about how many times you speak a negative thought, then begin to turn that negative into a positive and call those things in your life that you cannot see, as if they were, for FAITH IS SPEAKING confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; giving us assurance about things we cannot see. From the desk of Eternity Matters, I wish you each a very Merry Christmas!
