Milan High School opened the doors bright and early at 7:30AM on Sunday morning, December 13, 2015 in preparation for the MYWA wrestling tournament.  Local High School Wrestlers were on hand to help with the event serving as table operators while family members and friends served as runners and tapping personnel, serving in concessions, operating admissions etc. Hosting the MYWA tournament helps Milan High School wrestlers with costs associated with their hotel rooms, food and tournament admissions for weekend wrestling events across the state.
High School Wrestling Coach Milo Root said, “Many of our MYWA, middle school and high school parents stepped up and volunteered to help make this event a success. The tournament went very well this year and we hope to run our 3rd annual MYWA tournament next December. “
MYWA events operate under the guidelines of MYWA so there were merchandise booths on site for purchasing head bands, necklaces, screen print T-shirts, sweatpants and other clothing items supporting MYWA and wrestling in general.
Local Milan youth wrestlers participating in today’s event were James Blackburn (age 9) who finished in 3rd place at 05-06 novice division 71 pounds and Zander Paris ( age 9) who finished 4th place in the 06-05 open division at 110-130 pounds.
