Milan has several all-around athletes in their combined athletics programs so we thought we would share just a few of them who compete in track and field, and at least one other sport. There are three, fast on their feet football players, who are also track and field runners. Justin York, Demetrius Barnes and Cortez Gray finished first, second and third respectively in the 100-yard Dash against SMCC on Thursday, April 28, 2016. On Tuesday, April 26, 2016, Justin York had set a personal best of 11.17 against Riverview but he wasn’t too disappointed withThursday’s time of 11.5 either given the rainy weather and track conditions.
Milan Quarterback, Demetrius Barnes, also placed 1st in the 4 x 1 relay against SMCC, and had a recent long jump of 20’4” against Riverview. Milan swimmer, Joey Humes, has been winning all season but on April 28, 2016 he won big against SMCC. Joey ran a seasonal record time of 4:30 in the 1600 and a career best of 9:47 in the 3200.
Milan basketball forward, Jarius Hamilton, is now making a name for himself in track and field winning the high jump in both the SMCC and Riverview meets while girls’ basketball forward, Jariana Hamilton, took 1st place in the 800 relay against SMCC.
In the Girls 100-Yard Hurdles SMCC’s Courtney Baumann took 1st place, followed closely by Milan volleyball player, Darius Jackson.
Milan took the Championships against Airport on April 22, 2016 and SMCC on April 26, 2016.
