Working their socks off

By Balinda Zimmerman

People’s Presbyterian had their Vacation Bible School program during the week of July 11-15 this year. They chose the Ronald McDonald House in Ann Arbor as their mission project and with the aid of a private donation raised $700.00 toward their goal.
The current promotion is for every $10.00 donation received the Ronald McDonald house will give you a pair of red and white socks as seen on Ronald in the McDonald advertisements.
The fun part of the promotion

is to then take a selfie or photo of your group wearing their socks and post it to #SHOWYOURRONALD
Carole London, Director of the VBS Program feels the People’s VBS group photographed here in Milan is the largest group thus far to post to the website. There had been a couple groups posting up to twenty-four people but none so far have had as many as sixty which is the number of children and adults in the group at People’s VBS on Thursday July 14, 2016.
The goal of the project was to have a pair of red and white socks ready and waiting for every child who was at VBS on Thursday. There were a few pair left over so Carol and her helpers were also able to have a pair of socks (and I also received a pair).  The number of children waiting and excited to receive a pair of Ronald McDonald socks was fifty-four.
The children of the VBS raised a total of $400.00 of the $600.00 needed to reach the projected goal of sixty pairs of socks.  A church member had donated $300.00 toward the goal before the beginning of VBS and another member had later donated $300.00 of the $350.00 needed for the petting zoo on Friday, July 5, 2016.
