The Milan Girl’s Swimming and diving team wrapped up their 2016 season at the D3 State Swimming and Diving Championships this past weekend in Holland.  We were lights out in the pool and on the boards.  We went in to the State Meet ranked 8th in the final rankings of the year but battled all weekend and came away with a 5th place finish, and only 35 points out of 4th and 40 out of 3rd.  We had an amazing Friday of prelims moving up over 60 points on our seeded points and then manged to hold in finals and even managed to move up in a few places.
The medley relay took 14th place and consisted on Sophie Morelock, Jessie Dryden, Cassidy Gillay and Emma Frame.
The 200 free relay was 8th which makes them All State.  This was Gillay, Frame, Lizzy McKenna and Madelyn Cislo.
The 400 Free relay was also 8th and All State.  This was a crazy swim that had us drop over 2 seconds from our prelim time.  This was made up of Gillay, McKenna, Morelock ane Cislo.
Individually we were on fire.  Madelyn Cislo was 3rd in the 100 fly and was State Champion in the 200 IM.  Her IM was a new State Record and just an all around excellent swim.
Sophie Morelock added a 14th in the 100 free and a 11th in the 100 back.  She battled all weekend and her 100 back swim in finals was an real amazing and mentally tough swim.
Lizzy Mckenna brought home 16th in the 200 free and then added a 6th place and All State performance in the 500 free.
Cassiday Gillay had a tremendous swim in the 100 fly in prelims but it was a fast meet and she finished the event in 22nd, a whooping 13 places higher than her seeded place.
The diving event was another strong suit for us,as Mackenzie Crawford brought home our second win on the day and another State Championship and All State performance. Senior Becky Novack turned in her strongest performance of the year at the right time and brought home a 12th place finish!!  The diving performances led to Crawford being named the Diver of the Year in our Division, while our Dive Coach was named Dive Coach of the Year as well.
The meet was much faster than most years and the girls came ready to compete.  As a coach, that is all you can ask of your athletes.  We as a staff are tremendously proud of what this team accomplished this year.  an 11-2 record, Huron League Champions and a Top 5 finish at the State Meet.
I also would like to thank Asst. Swim coach Kerry Frame and Dive Coach Chelsea Laginess.  They put in a tremendous amount of work and did an excellent job.  I am very lucky to have them working along side of me, as we would not have been able to do this without their hard work.

Finally I would like to thank everyone who supported the program all year.  Thank you to all the parents, siblings, grandparents, and others who showed to cheer, help out and make the season so successful.  In addition I would like to thank the High School Administration, Athletic Director David Kaiser, District Administration, and everyone else in the community.  We are lucky that in Milan ALL sports are honored and respected.  Thank you for your support.
