Heath, Albert “Ted”
Age 80 died, Thursday, December 22, 2016 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on November 13, 1936 in Deerfield, Michigan to Albert “Ted” and Hazel (Gray) Heath and lived in Milan since he was two. Ted was a 1954 graduate of Milan High School and earned his Theology degree from Detroit Bible School. After Bible School he worked for Milan Baptist Church as a youth director under Pastor Blake Hunt from 1957-1961. In 1961 he began farming and continued until recently, leaving the legacy of farming to his son Gary. While farming he remained active with the Milan Baptist Church by serving as youth leader for 32 years, teaching High School Sunday School, a deacon for 13 years and a member of the building committee that launched the family center, which is so vibrant to the Milan community.
On August 16, 1958 he married Joanne Long at the Milan Baptist Church and together they raised three children. Besides his wife of 58 years, survivors include his children: Gary and Linda Heath of Milan, Patricia Wills of Cincinnati, Ohio, Julie and Brian Vander Ark of Palatine, Illinois grandchildren: Sara (Andrew) Ketchum, Laura Heath, Katelyn (Derrick) Blyberg, Andrew (Jordan) Wills, Lauren Wills, Lydia, Jenna, Lily and Heath Van Ark, a sister Sharon (Robert) Thatcher and brother Harold (Beth) Heath all of Milan along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his infant brother, Robert.
Ted had three passions in life: Faith and love of God that was demonstrated through his involvement with the church, living the Bible and the teachings of God’s love. The undying love for his family, as he expressed in devotion, kind-heartedness and pure enjoyment as a husband, father, grandfather and brother. And his enthusiasm for the family farm, which was more than an occupation but a hobby and a way of life. Ted and Joanne also had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and many foreign countries, visiting all the states but Hawaii so on his 80 birthday his family through him a Hawaiian themed party. Ted was well loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Monday, December 26th from 1:00pm to 7:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Milan Baptist Church on Tuesday at 10:00am where friends may call beginning at 9:00am. Burial will follow at Azalia Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Milan Baptist Family Center.
Dorothy Mahoney, long time resident of Milan, died December 5, 2016 with her loving husband Jack Mahoney by her side. Ms. Mahoney was 60 years old.
