Dundee business spotlight: Cella-Mar Studio of Hair Design

By Janet Buccirosso

Cella-Mar Studio of Hair Design located at 112 Tecumseh Street in Dundee was opened in April of 1989. Owner and hair designer Marcella Osenbaugh-Valle grew up in Bedford and graduated from Bedford High School. However, she has been a resident of Dundee for many years and considers it her home. Marcella, who met her husband Ricardo while on vacation in Acapulco, has been married for over 16 years. She and her husband share their home with their two cats, Quinn and Mahogany.
Marcella, who previously was a hair designer in Ann Arbor, decided to go out on her own over 28 years ago and open a studio. Since her family also lived in Dundee, deciding where to do so was easy. The staff consists of long time designers. Marcella has 31 years of experience, Pam Welch of Dundee has over 31 years, Shawna Vore of Dundee has 16 years, Lori Straits of Dundee has 9 years of experience and April Cowell of Tecumseh has 8 years. Marcella and her staff are also involved in the community, providing their services to the Fairview County Home for which they received the Homeless Hero award, and following the tradition of bleaching the high school swim team’s hair before their finals.
Appointments are suggested for services, but walk-ins are welcome. While many think the studio only caters to women, Marcella has very competitive rates for men’s hair as well. The studio specializes in color, but also provides a wide range of services including hair design, manicures, pedicures, updos, group sessions, and both bridal and prom parties. Hours of operation are Tuesday – Friday 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information or to make an appointment, contact the studio at (734) 529-3446.
