Students raise funds during Dundee Dash.

By Janet Buccirosso

Students at Dundee Elementary school participated in the Dundee Dash, a Jungle Style Walk-a-thon. Students were encouraged to participate in order to raise funds for school improvements including athletic equipment, life-size games, Karaoke Machine and indoor games. Over 750 students participated through gathering donations and pledges or purchasing T-shirts. There were many individual and class prizes, including pizza parties, ice cream treats, goody bags, etc. The grand prize awarded to two students from each grade level collecting the top pledge values consisted of the Elephant Pack. This included a free lunch at the Great Lakes Eatery, a free shake from Nutrition Village, a ride around Dundee on a fire truck, a half day spent with a Dundee Elementary School staff member and a chance for an Ipad mini. The Runner-Up or Giraffe Pack was awarded to one student from each grade level who collected the runner-up pledge values and included a bean bag or Big Joe chair, a day pass to Splash Universe and a half day spent with a Dundee Elementary School staff member.
Students were able to raise over $16,000 through donations and pledges. This money will provide students with much enjoyment as it will be used for playground accessories including a shed full of equipment, two Gaga Ball pits, tetherball, climbers, etc. It will also provide music in the cafeteria and technological support for inside recess.
The Dundee Elementary School students want to again thank all of the sponsors, supporters and participants for their generous donation of products, time and monetary contributions.
