Jacob Kaczmarek completes the construction portion of his Eagle Scout Service Project

Jacob Kaczmarek, Milan High School Graduate of 2017, recently completed the construction portion of his Eagle Scout Service Project at Vern R. Campbell Park (formerly Sanford Road Soccer Complex).  He planned, designed, and led others to build approximately 350 feet of split rail fence at the Youth Soccer Fields.  With the help of his family, Milan Swim Team buddies and Scout friends, they were able to build the fencing in one short day.  The Parking Lot Barrier was needed to keep the lawn maintained and the children safe from vehicles that were encroaching onto the soccer fields.  Jacob worked with both the City of Milan Parks and Recreation Department and the President of the Milan Youth Soccer Club to create an acceptable design that benefitted all parties.
Jacob has been active in Boy Scouts for more than 12 years. He earned the Arrow of Light Award in Cub Scouts at Pack 495 at South Arbor Academy and is currently a Life Scout in Troop 290 which meets at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Ypsilanti, MI on Sunday evenings during the school year.  Jacob enjoys camping and has participated in several high adventure camping opportunities. This includes Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, NM, Florida Sea Base in Islamorada, FL, and the Summit Bechtel Scout Reserve in Glen Jean, WV.  Jacob will finish his Scouting career as a youth by attending the Boy Scout National Jamboree for the 2nd time in July. He plans to complete his “Trail to Eagle” and earn the Rank of Eagle Scout before beginning classes at Washtenaw Community College this Fall.
