Milan has Iron Chefs

By Joyce Ervin

Ann Racette, Milan’s cooking instructor, who turns kids into chefs and conducts the Symons Elementary Cooking Club held the 2 nd annual Iron Chef competition recently with five teams of chefs, who created their own recipes using the secret ingredient; a lemon.
Five teams of chefs created recipes using the secret ingredient, but there could only be one winning team.  Taking First Place was Elliott Elias and Kevin Thompson, who presented to the judges Lemon Butter Salmon and Lemon Brownies.
Runner up was Lila McKenna with her version of a Creamy Lemon Cheesecake.
Serving as judges were retired teachers, Dan Reeves and Jackie Britton.  Joining them was Kimberly Gillow and Mary Racette.
Racette is an experienced cooking teacher that has taught children for years. The little chefs are judged on originality, taste and presentation.
