Female Athlete of the Month: Lauren Chrysler

Lauren Chrysle

By Balinda Zimmerman
Lauren Chrysler was born September 2003 to Chad Chrysler and Kerri Chrysler Bergman. She has four siblings, Leigha Chrysler (17), Mackenzie Chrysler (9), Seanna Schmidt (15), and Drew Bergman (3), her only brother. She said she loves having a little brother and really just loves all kids.
Lauren is the most athletic of her siblings and says she likely got that from her father. Chad played both football and baseball for Milan and graduated in 1992. Her Mom is more of a thinker and graduated from Saline and Eastern Michigan University.
Lauren does not yet have a GPA established but she is a straight A student entering her freshman year at Milan High School. Her classes this year are scheduled to be Honors Biology, Geometry, Spanish III, World History, ELA and Health.
She is left-handed but for some reason plays all sports as a right-handed player.  She has played softball, volleyball, and ran track either on travel teams or for Milan Middle school and in elementary she even tried soccer. She is not yet sure if she will play travel ball and run track for MHS or if she will play both travel ball and school ball, skipping track. She is presently playing travel softball for Gold Fastpitch where her team finished the season with a combined record of 32-10, including two tournament wins and a second place finish at NSA B States.
Lauren is not seriously considering colleges yet but dreams of one day being able to play softball for Alabama, Oklahoma or Florida. She likes all three but says Oklahoma has been winning the World Series in Softball the last couple years so they would definitely be the top contender on her list.  She will begin to investigate which school has the best nursing program before making decisions.
Career wise Lauren would like to be a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (P.I.C.U.) nurse. She has a family friend who works in PICU and she shares her experiences that makes Lauren believe she would love to work there. Her love for children is a huge driving force and her desire to help people is a second force. Her sister, Leigha, was a consortium student in Saline last year who now works in Labor and Delivery as an intern and she also shares with Lauren about her work experiences. Between the two, she has decided this is definitely her path for a career field.
