I think no matter where anyone is in the world, they look forward to spring! Spring is a time of action, new growth and Truth!
As I write this article, our nation is reeling at the shock of yet another senseless school shooting and Americans are sadly divided, with no one wanting to bend. After listening to politicians on both sides of the aisle and learning of teens who witnessed the Florida massacre, are planning a nationwide protest in March, I decided to do a little research and discovered the following truths:
Latest account I could find from the CDC on abortion, was 652,639 lives aborted in 2014. I wonder how many of these lives would have been teachers, engineers, maybe even a President?
As of January 2017, some 64,070 deaths in the U.S. was due to drug overdoses. So many lives cut short because they couldn’t find purpose in life, so addiction led them to their death.
44,000 Americans die by suicide each year. Info from Mental Health of America. Were they depressed or bullied, overwhelmed by circumstances or just didn’t feel they fit in?
The CDC also reported an average of 13,000 people die annually from gun wounds in the U.S. and 62% of those who die from guns are suicide deaths. The other percent includes accidental, domestic, robbery and crime. Not sure, but mass shootings (considered more than 4 at once), must fit into this category.
The latest stats I could find on alcohol and drunk driving was 2016, with the reporting 10,497 deaths that year. According to the Alcohol Rehab Guide, about 40 percent of convicted murderers had used alcohol before or during their crime.
Road rage is up to 50% since 1990 (
So why all the stats on different ways life is taken unnaturally? Whenever a tragedy happens, it is the human in us that wants to put the blame on something or someone. It is also natural to raise our fists, let words fly carelessly, form protests and let our feelings become our master. Everyone has an opinion on how to make a wrong right; yet in all the opinions, “The Truth has been covered up by a Shroud.”
As I read from the gravest travesty of annual deaths through abortion to the lowest by road rage, in between lies the problem; the heart of mankind. Something no one wants to discuss; SIN. From unwanted living babies being sucked from the womb, more empathy in America is seen on media advertising, begging for funds to help abused animals. State upon State knows they have a drug epidemic that is robbing our young people, yet we fight to legalize Marijuana. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death among our young people, yet how many reach out to help those who are showing signs.
Alcohol is a high contributor to shooting deaths, domestic violence, and drunken driving fatalities, yet have you ever seen a protest to get rid of alcohol? A couple of weeks ago, my daughter and I witnessed a man in a small car purposely cut in front of a semi out of anger, because it appeared the truck unknowingly cut him off first. At the light he got out of his car and shouted profanities with a raised fist at the truck driver. Risking his life and others all because his rage became uncontrollable.
Jesus, who is the Way, The TRUTH, and The Life, died on the cross in the Springtime of the year. He was wrapped and covered in a Shroud, after He took on death for our sins. If only this mad world that is filled with hate and anger, would uncover the Shroud that clearly is hiding The Truth, they would find love, not hate. If people would accept, instead of rejecting and rebelling against HIM. If they would receive TRUTH into their heart, the numbers tallied above, would quickly decline. Jeremiah 17:10 John 14:6
