School Safety is Paramount for DCS

By Janet Buccirosso

On February 20, second hand information was received from a student that a violent threat had been made against students at Dundee High School. Superintendent Manuszak along with the Dundee Village Police Department investigated and found the threat to be negligible.
Subsequent to this incident Mr. Manuszak attended a Monroe County Superintendents Association meeting with local law enforcement officials to discuss school safety. A letter was drafted to facilitate communication with the public regarding this issues stating concerns and making recommendations. DCS has a School Liaison Officer through the Dundee Village Police Department. Although this is a giant step toward keeping our students and staff safe, it is not a guarantee that a situation will not arise.
We need to continue to encourage our children and employees to report any suspicious activity or conversations they may see or hear immediately.
All threats made or reported are taken very seriously, investigated and reported to local law enforcement.
