Big Reds induct members to Hall of Fame

Milan Big Reds Athletic Hall of Fame Induction and Dinner was held September 15, 2018. Family, friends, community members and past Hall of Fame inductees gathered at Milan High School for the special evening.
Bryan Girbach said he’s been part of Milan Schools for 27 years. “We remember your excellence, your hard work and dedication. These are some of the very best athletes from classes past.”. David Kaiser welcomed everyone and Jesse Hoskins was the Master of Ceremony.
Inductee Recognition/Presentation:
1974 Boy’s Swim Team was remarkable, they had the most competitors of any team at the State meet. They took State by 9 points , scoring in 8 of 11 events, despite having no individual state champion winners. 1977 Girls’s Swim Team won the State Championship by over 60 points. They won the medley, they scored in 10 or 11 events and scored two or more places in 5 of the 8 individual events. 2000 Boys Swim Team won State Championship by 7 points. Scored 3 places in both the 200 and 500 freestyle, finishing 1-2 in both. Scored in 5 of the 8 individual and down to the last event, their win in the 400 Relay sealed their State Championship.
Roland McDonald graduated from Milan in 1981. Diver, 4 year varsity letter and school record holder. He attended Clemson University and Michigan State. He’s entering his 29th year coaching diving. He’s been at San Diego State University 2010-present.
Lindsey Lammers graduated from Milan in 2010. She’s won over 20 tournaments and matches. She was All State 2 years, qualified all 4 years. 4 years All Huron League, All County, All Region teams. She was Regional Golfer of the Year 2008, 2009. 2010 Michigan Girls State Amatuer Golf Champion. Semi-final Michigan Women’s Amatuer and Women’s Superteam selection her senior year. Currently she lives in Ft. Myers, FL
Matt Conger graduated from Milan in 2001, several swimming achievements…like 3 time individual State champion and 2000 All American Team. He lives in Mt. Holly, N.C.
Jordan Tomecek Eichorst graduated from Milan in 2010 and went to Indiana University-Purdue at Ft. Wayne, running cross country and track at a D1 level .Space doesn’t permit us to list her numerous Achievements, Records and Honors .
Kiel Ochalek graduate from Milan in 2002. He was part of the 2000 State Champion Team, some achievements 8x All American and 6x State Champion. Scored points at State Meet all 4 years. Multiple Team and Individual League Champion.
Aaron Ochalek graduated from Milan in 2000. He has numerous achievements in swimming, track and cross country. He attended U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Navy Flight School. He is a military pilot and an American Airlines pilot based out of Washington, D.C.
Bryan Young graduated from Milan in 2005 he played football, basketball and track. 2005 All Huron Football League football, All Region Running back and All State running back
Blake Novak graduated from Milan in 1991. 1990, 1991 runner up Michigan State champion 110m High Hurdles, 1990 runner up Michigan State Champion 300m intermediate hurdles and 1991 Michigan State Champion 300m intermediate hurdles. Attended the US Coast Guard Academy and Naval War College. Currently a Captain in the US Coast Guard.
Stephanie Ray graduated from Milan in 1990, All State Diver, All American Diver and State Champion. She received her Master’s from EMU and is a Speech and Language pathologist working for the Jackson Intermediate School District
Kristi Swix Higgins graduated from Milan in 1993. Some achievements: Jr. Natl. Qualifer, All State, All American for the 200 Medley Relay and State Champion. Attended Penn State Univ. and EMU. In addition to her family and job she coaches for Milan Swim Club and is a treasurer for Milan Youth Soccer Club.
Roberta Myyra a long time supporter of Milan Area Schools, Milan Athletics, serves in Milan Youth League, Red Booster Club, founding member of the Milan Football Alumni Assoc. and the list continues.
