Red Ribbon cutting: Textiles

By Joyce Ervin

Textiles, a fabric shop, celebrated their opening at 20 East Main Street with a Red Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
Owners Donna Bloxam and Jacqui Macfarlane will continue to add fabrics, such as fleece and flannel and of course all holiday-themed fabrics to the already extensive selections in stock.  Sewing notions are also available.
A variety of prints in cottons and cotton blends line shelves.  Quilting squares and end-of-bolt fabrics are available. Claudia Hale of Milan was admiring a print of little campers, surely a favorite to use for youngsters items
Beginning quilting lessons are offered along with many other classes. A few recently offered were Halloween baskets and wreaths.
Two upcoming classes for November are Kids Sewing Lessons and how to make a poncho.  Check their Facebook page for others.
City officials were present and Mayor Dominic Hamden was pleased to welcome another new business to the downtown.  He wished the owners much success.
A cake and appetizers were served, and Hale summed it up saying, “It’s a pleasure to have a specialty store in Milan.”
Hours of operation will be Mon. 2 to 7 p.m., Tues. through Fri. 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 12 to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
