Milan High School senior, Grace Gyolai, was the 2019 recipient of a scholarship to Girls State compliments of the Earl Gladfelter Post 268 Ladies Auxiliary.
Gyolai served as state attorney stepping up from the mock city of Knoxville and city council.   Gyolai said the experience was helpful as she was able to step out of her comfort zone and engage in public speaking.  She became more comfortable with the role and said, “I’d never get anywhere else unless I tried this.”
Gyolai enjoyed snacks and relayed her activities for the auxiliary members at a recent business meeting.  They inquired if she would like to be an attorney.  Gyolai said she was considering it and had registered for a new college-level law course that is being offered this fall at the high school.
Gyolai’s resume is impressive to include Girls Varsity Tennis, manager of Boys Tennis, Student Council, build member of Code Red Robotics, Safety Captain of the robotics team, Milan Youth Council, Liaison to Milan Parks and Recreation, Language Club, Youth Group at her church, and has taken lots of AP and college courses. She caps this off with senior student representative to the Milan School Board.
She is the daughter of Kathy and Jeff Gyolai of Milan.
