We at the Milan Eagle hope all in our community are doing well during this crisis. We will all get through this together. In order to keep people safe and distanced we did not produce a Milan Eagle newspaper for April. Further months have not been determined as we want to adhere to state guidelines and protect the community. We appreciate all our advertisers and readers and look forward to serving everyone again.God bless.

Female Athlete of the Month: Samantha Ruff

Samantha Ruff

By Milan Eagle media

Samantha Ruff, daughter of Neil and Eva Ruff, is a lifelong resident of Milan and a junior at Milan High.  She has an older brother, Matthew, who didn’t actually pave the way into a lot of her activities but was a partner.
Sam participated in the Milan Youth Soccer League for two seasons in her elementary years before she started bowling and has been rolling ever since. She traveled throughout the state to various competitions and, over the years, has totaled a dozen awards to date that will convert into scholarship dollars once she graduates.  Sam has bowled on the Girls Varsity team since she was a Freshman.  Last year, her brother and she were named two of the four Milan High School Bowling Team co-captains (along with Ari Cheatham and Andy Jarvis), the first time a sibling pair has held those positions.
Sam plays the saxophone and is part of the Wind Ensemble, Marching Band and treasurer for TriM, a band-specific honor society.  She is also part of the widely popular MHS Drumline and, at home, she plays the piano.  Sam is part of the MHS Theatre group performing on-stage in the recent production of Radium Girls or up in the booth doing sound or recording duties. This will be Sam’s third year as part of the Code Red Robotics Team where she has been a member of the build and electrical teams.
As a sophomore, Sam competed with the MHS DECA Team bringing home a regional medal and earning a spot in the state competition.  She is also a member of GSA. When she graduates in 2021, she would like to study Biomedical Engineering and perhaps go deeper into the medical field.
