We at the Milan Eagle hope all in our community are doing well during this crisis. We will all get through this together. In order to keep people safe and distanced we did not produce a Milan Eagle newspaper for April. Further months have not been determined as we want to adhere to state guidelines and protect the community. We appreciate all our advertisers and readers and look forward to serving everyone again.God bless.

Hungry to help

By Milan Eagle media

Energy levels were high on January 11 as Families & Friends of the Milan Community, Keystone Academy of Belleville, Nie Funeral Home,
Milan Middle School National Junior Honor Society, South Arbor Charter Academy,
Venturing Crew 781, Aid in Milan, Milan Free Methodist Church, 4:12 MFM Kids, Milan Rotary Club, Boy Scout Troop 449 and AHG Troop MI2407 gathered and packaged 20,000 meals organized by Crystal Jones. Michael Burwell directs the food packaging events for the Kid’s Coalition Against Hunger (KCAH) and he works right along with everyone. He brings all the supplies, sets up, works, removes equipment, loads and distributes. He is passionate about “feeding our future”.
KCAH is a 501c3 humanitarian food relief organization whose mission is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and feed starving children throughout the world by delivering a highly nutritious meal, that was  developed by food scientists to provide a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by an  undernourished child’s body and mind.  It is also very simple to prepare, requiring only six cups of boiling water to make a complete meal.
From the 20,000 meals packaged, 6,492 of those meals stayed in the Milan community. Many hands, young, middle age and old helped make this event successful. Milan Rotary Club Past President Dr. Eduardo Enriquez organized the first food packing March 25, 2017. It’s nice to know the Milan community is continuing, year after year, to help feed the hungry.
