We at the Milan Eagle hope all in our community are doing well during this crisis. We will all get through this together. In order to keep people safe and distanced we did not produce a Milan Eagle newspaper for April. Further months have not been determined as we want to adhere to state guidelines and protect the community. Female Athlete of the Month: Madison Phillips

Madison Phillips is the daughter of Mike and Karen Phillips. She has four sisters and a foster sister and has lived in Milan her entire life.
Her parents started her in sports when she was very young. Her first sport was T-ball. , then Softball, Volleyball and Track. Volleyball is her main sport and she has loved it since her sister Brittany started playing and taught her the game, She’s been playing volleyball since the 7th grade.
The positions that she plays are outside hitter, right-side hitter, and defensive specialist. She has played both school ball and travel ball.
She said, “My coaches have helped me a great deal with teaching me many aspects of the game. They have taught me sportsmanship, fair play, dedication, commitment, teamwork, humility, confidence, respect and the value of hard work.
Coach Angela, Coach Laura, Coach Nelson, Coach Chris, and Coach Porter, I will always be grateful to them for helping make me the player I am today! “
 Madison is involved in the AP Capstone program at Milan High School. With this program, you must complete the AP Seminar and AP Research courses and take and pass both AP tests. Upon completion of the course and test she will be the first Milan High School student to graduate from this program with her AP Capstone Diploma. 
Madison has a long list of accomplishments, her GPA for last semester was 4.166. She has been Scholar Athlete for 4 years, Varsity Letter for Volleyball, Varsity Letter for Track 3 years and Academic Letter all four years. She’s a member of the National Honor Society and involved in community and school events. She is the current Chapter President of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She’s been a 4H member for 6 years. Madison was Milan Area Chamber’s 2013 Jr. Youth of the Year winner.
She attends Milan Baptist Church and is active in youth group and church nursery. Youth group also participates in community service projects. .
After graduation Madison will attend Concordia University to study Nursing. 
She has also committed to play Volleyball there. Her goal is to become a Pediatric Oncology Nurse.
