The Milan Lady Reds basketball program beat Riverview Pirates for the first time in over 10 years, 60-54, in the Coaches vs. Cancer game at Milan High School on Feb, 17. Junior, Sofia Kirk had six 3-pointers and freshman Ali Millina and Markila McRae added 12 and 13 points respectively.
This year’s team has accomplished many mile stones throughout the season. Including beating Monroe St. Mary’s Catholic Central, Riverview, and Grosse Ile for the first time in over a decade. The team’s nine wins during the regular season was the most achieved by a Milan girls basketball team in over 10 years. The commitment of the group started the minute last season ended with our offseason commitment to getting better as a program Coach Bobby Green said. This season also saw three members of The Varsity become voted as All-League members, this season Sydney Aunins and Sophia Kirk both nabbed 2nd Team all Huron League honors and Lauryn Obey also received League honors as all League honorable mention.
