The Milan Beautification Commission chose winners for the 2015 July beautification awards.  The property owners are acknowledged with a letter from the City, a certificate and a sign is placed on their premises.
The award has become very sought after and recipients this month earned bragging rights.  Each place is different but all are eye-catching.
Crystal and Max Hall of 133 W. Main St. have a pink hydrangea bush, yellow Stella Doro lilies and pots and pots of annuals to include variegated purple petunias.
Melissa and Charlie Brown live at 1263 North St. and their bed boasts white daisies, red knockout roses and a Japanese maple tree.
Kris and Bill Newnum have a variety of hostas in square beds that surround a tree.  The large front porch sports a rocking chair and pots of red dragon-earred begonias.
Carolyn and Roger Olds of 64 W. Miller Ave. have a contemporary home and an attractive courtyard entrance.  On a corner of the walkway sets an old child’s wagon with flowers, an iron tub filled with sweet potato vine, pink and red begonias and fountain grass.  An old galvanized watering can hangs over the plants.
