Milan High School FFA members recently attended the 88 th Annual Michigan FFA State Convention at the University of Michigan.  Awards were presented based on academics and GPA, service hours, involvement in the organization and some awards are based on criteria to have completed a supervised agricultural experience.
Junior Austin Blaine, has received a Freshman Green Hand Award and an Outstanding Junior Award. His agricultural experience is an ongoing project of raising bees and collecting honey.  Other students work with livestock or work in the school’s greenhouse.
Milan students also voted for delegates to elect new state officers.  Students are excused from school to attend the convention, but assignments are given early to ensure completion.
The Milan High School program is supported by science teacher Tom Stahl with help from paraprofessional Mary Hammer.
