Clarence Robert “Bob” Cline, age 89, of Milan, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The son of Clarence and Arlia (Palmiter) Cline, he was born June 22, 1926 in Milan, Michigan. On November 23, 1947 he married Lydia Mast in Stuttgart, Germany, who he had met while serving in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. She preceded him in death on September 24, 2009.
He had many interests in his lifetime including farming, training bird dogs, owning the Shady Trails Riding Stable on Plank Road in the 1960s, raising beef cattle, raising honeybees, driving semi truck, and photography, to mention a few.
Bob is survived by his four daughters, Susan (Mike) Diroff of Hudson, OH, Linda (Roger) Collins, of Mesa, AZ, Sally (Tom) Harrison of Suttons Bay, MI, and Jean (Fred) Blumhardt of Lambertville, MI, as well as 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 22, 2016 with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Ave. N.E., Grand Rapids, MI. As per his wishes, Bob and Lydia’s ashes will be buried together in the cemetery on the beautiful grounds of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
