The Milan Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Committee is seeking nominations for the 2016-2017 Milan Business of Year, Individual Community Service (2) and Youth of the Year Awards. Nominations will be accepted beginning October 1, 2016. Nominations received after October 27th will not be considered. Nomination forms will be available at the Milan Area Chamber of Commerce office, City Hall, the Milan Senior and Community Activity Center and on line at Previous recipients are not eligible to receive the award a second time. Award Criteria is listed on the individual nomination forms along with a complete listing of previous recipients.
Anyone may submit a nomination either on line or on paper. Please consider nominating the business that went the “extra mile” to help you out, the youth that astounds you with his/her community involvement and/or that individual citizen who is always there to help the community.
These awards give community members the opportunity to nominate and recognize businesses, individuals and youth they believe demonstrate support and commitment to the Milan community. The recipients of these prestigious awards will be revealed at the Annual Chamber Christmas Breakfast on Friday, December 9, 2016. The breakfast will be held at the Milan Senior and Community Activity Center and an RSVP will be required (734-439-7932).

Business Award
Must have been in business in the Milan area for at least three years
Demonstrates a standard for leadership in the community
Innovative in their product and/or provides exceptional customer service
Enhances the appearance of their place of business and maintains the property with regular upkeep
Demonstrates giving of time, talent and/or financial support to the community (participation with civic and service organizations, charitable activities, political pursuits, religious groups, volunteerism, etc.)

Individual Community Service Award Criteria
The individual does not have to live in Milan
Demonstrates a passion for Milan (by giving of time, talent and/or financially to support the community)
Sets a standard of leadership through involvement in local religious activities, non-profit organizations, schools, the city/area/state, and volunteerism

Youth Award Criteria:
Attending Milan Area Schools or living in the 48160 zip code (the student may be home schooled or attending a school of choice in the area)
Must be 13 to 18 years of age.

Demonstrated community involvement (community activities, local church participation, non-profits, volunteer work)
Optional: Innovative and/or creative activities in the community or school, awards and/or honors received extra-curricular activities in school etc.
