We at the Milan Eagle hope all in our community are doing well during this crisis. We will all get through this together. In order to keep people safe and distanced we did not produce a Milan Eagle newspaper for April. Further months have not been determined as we want to adhere to state guidelines and protect the community. We appreciate all our advertisers and readers and look forward to serving everyone again.God bless.

MarketPlace Gallery in downtown

By Joyce Ervin

Shoppers entered the MarketPlace Gallery at 12 E. Main St. through some fluttering snowflakes just as this holiday season began.  It seemed to heighten the ambience inside the gallery that will be open Saturdays10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Dec. to include Christmas Eve with handcrafted unique items.
The boutique-type retail outlet features handcrafted items from local and regional artisans across Michigan.  Jill Tewsley, promotor and Main Street Manager, said “We have gifts for everyone.”
The shop is filled with a variety of holiday-themed craft items to sculptures and woodworking, jewelry, soaps, wreaths, ornaments and jams to name a few.  Shopper, Glenna Hale, found some candy canes made of felt that sported white buttons, she felt would be perfect to hang on her kitchen cupboard doors.
Sherry Winterson said she loves art fairs and enjoyed shopping in the MarketPlace because she likes little shops.  Another shopper, visiting from Iron River, Jody Tousignant was looking over a display of handmade jewelry.
Leaving with a big bag, one shopper exclaimed the skiiers she purchased made of wood scraps and pieces were, she said, “the perfect size to fit on her narrow table edge.”
Throughout Nov. and Dec. special days will be announced.
Milan High School DECA Club sold their wares.  The MarketPlace celebrates “Shop Local Saturday”.  Tewsley encourages everyone to shop local on any Saturday, “We have the perfect gift for everyone on your list.”
