Partnership approved with Med Center

The Dundee Board of Education held its February meeting on the 13th of February. Recognition and certificates were given to the Middle School Honors Choir and Mrs. Haley Sulisz for receiving a Division I rating of Excellent and five individual students who received a Division I or II rating. Chris and Carolyn Hasley were chosen by Muscle and Performance magazine as America’s Fittest Couple in a national competition. Chris is a Biology teacher and Carolyn teaches English Language Arts.
The Board approved a partnership with the Family Medical Center of Southeast Michigan. TheMiddle School will be providing space for an on-site social worker and a coordinator. The partnership will give the district the ability to have medical services they otherwise could not offer. These services include telemedicine, school based testing and therapy. It is a free service being provided Mondays and Fridays and will hopefully be available beginning Friday, March 3rd.
The Board approved the purchase of a new convection steamer for the High School, not to exceed the cost of $14,000. Efforts to repair the steamer have been unsuccessful and the Food Service Director, Ms. Gay, will be coordinating the search for bids. In addition, the district is seeking ways to avoid having a deficit balance for food services this year and efforts will be made to contact families with an excess balance of $25.
Craig Batke, the Middle School and High School Technology teacher has developed two one-semester classes for the 2017-2018 school year.
The Board approved the classes, 3D Programming and Introduction to Media Computation/Java Programming.
Trip requests were then addressed and approval was given for Band and Choir reward trip, 6th grade field trip, HS Team Wrestling States, HS Individual Wrestling States and HS Boys Swim States.

(734) 529-2350, X-11001. In addition approval was given for the Coca-Cola contract explaining that there was a new vendor. The current contract expires in May of 2018
Ms. Courtney Sessions, who currently works as a district bus driver, was approved as the new High School Para Professional.
The annual mid-year budget amendment update was presented. There is a 21% Fund Equity, with the operating budget increasing slightly from $14.2M to $14.5M. Student enrollment was set at 1,512 and came in at 1,547. The district receives $7,511 per student from Michigan in-state aid.
Some adjustments were made to the budget for increases in retirement and staff hiring, an administrative adjustment and the athletics budget.
The District Strategic Planning Committee is working on a Vision Statement and revision of the Mission Statement and Guiding Principles. Their four areas of focus are Instruction/Curriculum/Assessment, Finance, Facilities and Communication.
