Parents & preschoolers invited to open house

By Joyce Ervin

Parents and their children are invited to a Preschool Open House on April 26 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. hosted by Paddock’s Early Childhood Center.
Paddock’s preschool is for ages 3 to 5-years and they offer tuition and a non-tuition programs.  Based on income some 4-year-old children may qualify for free care through the Great Start Readiness program, director Lisa Mellinger said.
If you are in need of childcare, you won’t want to miss this opportunity.  Tours of the classrooms will be offered and the certified teachers will be there to greet you and your child.  Kids can explore what each room has to offer.  Top your visit off with some punch and cookies.
Youngsters do not have to be potty- trained.  According to the website, “In addition to the importance of play based learning, we also implement The Creative Curriculum, which balances both teacher-directed and child-initiated learning, with an emphasis on responding to children’s learning styles and building on their strengths and interests.
This curriculum is fully aligned the Common Core State Standards, state early learning guidelines, and the Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework. It is our center’s philosophy that all projects done are age appropriate and done authentically by the child.”
The center also offers several other programs to include a summer camp experience.
Mellinger said, “We offer a comprehensive program ages infant to 14 years.”
The school is located 707 Marvin St., Milan.  For more information, contact the Early Childhood Center at 439-5159 or email Mellinger at mellingerl [at] milanareaschools [dot] org.  For school-aged children/infants and toddlers and summer camp, contact Sheila Meyer at 439-5118.
