Milan Athletic Dept. Makes Football Announcement

Press release

The Milan Athletic Department and the Milan Football program are excited to announce today that we will be reinstating football at the 7th and 8th grade level, effective this coming fall, with a combined team.
“We are excited about the opportunity to reinstate this program at the middle school and to continue to develop young student-athletes with the love of the game, the importance of team work and community, while also instilling pride in hard work, commitment and being a Big Red. Our goal is to develop our players to A.C.T. Like Big Reds – Accountability, Community and Toughness will be the values we work to emphasis in our program” – Coach Jesse Hoskins.
“Since we disbanded middle school football 3 years ago, Coach Hoskins , Mr. Girbach and myself have always had the intention of bringing football back once we felt that it could be sustainable for the future. In order to do that, it was important that we felt comfortable with the projected participation numbers coming up, that there was interest by the parents to be actively involved in the Milan Football program (volunteers, fund raisers, etc) and that we had the support by the middle school administration, Dr. Shanna Spickard and Superintenden Mr. Bryan Girbach. I feel that this is the time to get this back started. We have a staff in place that we believe will teach the game in such a manner that it will be, first and foremost, as safe as possible, fundamentally sound and enjoyable. While wanting to win games, our focus will be laying the ground work for future successes….on and off the gridiron.” Director of Athletics, David Kaiser
Once the faculty returns from Spring Break, Coach Hoskins and Matt Walline will be visiting the middle school to share information with the kids as well as to gather information. Parents of current 6th and 7th graders should be on the lookout for this information.
