By Janet Buccirosso

Ali LaFountain is in the 11th grade at Dundee High School. She plays softball on the Vikings team. She says she got into the sport because her father played baseball and she developed a love of softball. While growing up, she played volleyball and participated in swimming, but now she concentrates on softball. Her favorite team is the Michigan State University football team.
In school, the sixteen year olds favorite subject is Algebra. She states that she, “loves solving problems and using her brain!” While concentrating on her studies and playing on the softball team, Ali is also a member of the National Honor Society and maintains a 3.9 GPA.
Ali lives in Monroe with her mom, Cindy; her dad, Aaron; her sister, Raelyn and her brother, Christopher. They also share their home with a Husky appropriately named “Sparty”.
Plans for her future include college and then medical school where she plans to pursue a career in sports medicine and become an orthopedic surgeon. She also plans to continue playing softball while in college.
Her advice to other students that have not yet decided whether or not to play sports in school is, “If you love a sport play it. Take that love for the game and play your heart out. Leave it all on the field. Don’t be nervous or afraid to fail, as failing is a stepping stone to success!”
Ali’s teacher, Mrs. Roggelin, states, “Ali is one of the nicest kids in our school. She is a joy to have in class.”
