Winning season

By Balinda Zimmerman

After a rainy season and numerous postponed games that plagued the Big Reds, Milan was at 17-9 going into the double header against Garden City on 5.26.2018 and rain was again in the forecast.
Although clouds loomed all morning, the first game went off without a hitch and the Big Reds gained an early lead with a few good at bat moments. Garden City answered 3 of the runs but by the top of the 6th it was 6 to 3 and Gage Feeman was poised at third for a steal to home plate. Riley Bergeron stepped up to bat and put one into left field bringing Gage home for a 7-3 lead.
Next up was Jaden Riling who hit a low ball to center field but Bergeron had stepped out ahead of the hit and gained second base on a steal. Another Milan bat brings in Bergeron even though the batter was sacrificed at first base.
Kyle Carey was next at the plate and Riling evades what seemed like an easy out at second, sliding under the ball at second. Riling was able to make it in for the last score for Milan on a hit into left field. The top of the 7th inning was 9-3, Milan.
As Garden City took the bats it seemed they could hit but were unable to get past second base on the first hit and the next two were instant outs from fly balls. Milan wrapped up the Memorial holiday weekend with a 18-9 season thus far after the second game of the double header was rained out.
