Relay for Life marks 20th year in Milan

By Milan Eagle media

Milan’s Relay for Life was held in Wilson Park on August 18 & 19 this year. The announcement : that Milan has raised 1.2 million dollars over the last 19 years for Relay, toward finding a cure for cancer, was very exciting and added energy to the crowd as the opening ceremony for the 20th year continued.
The 61 survivors and their care givers started the walk first around the track stopping at the Senior Center for a breakfast honoring them sponsored by Stephen and Stewards For Strangers and Dr. Enriquez and Milan Physical Therapy. Following the survivors and their caregivers the 14 teams started their walk which would continue until Sunday morning, because cancer doesn’t sleep.
Later in the day and evening Mother Nature thinned out the campers as wind and rain consumed the Park.
As morning approached the faithful few remaining it was announced that Milan’s 20th Relay for Life had far exceeded their goal of $42,500. So far, $52,191.20 had been turned in (and growing)! Donations are still being accepted at
