Female Athlete of the Month: Sarah Eliason

Sarah Eliason is a senior at MHS. She was born May 1, 2001 in Ypsilanti, Mi. and was home schooled until 2nd grade then she attended South Arbor Charter Academy until 8th grade. Sarah started at Milan High School her freshman year, it was a big year for her and her family. She was starting high school and they also got their first foster care placement. They’ve been fostering for about 4 years now. Her family is scattered all over the states. Sarah lives with her parents and foster sister. Her oldest brother is in the navy. Her other brother is a pastor with his wife. Her oldest sister is pregnant with twins and her other sister is playing D2 college volleyball and is in nursing school. Sarah said she has always loved sports. Being the youngest of 5, she got introduced at a young age to all kinds of sports. It wasn’t until 5th grade when she decided she wanted to play volleyball. She said her sisters had a huge influence on her. They were always playing an
d constantly talking about how great it is, so Sarah wanted to follow their footsteps. Sarah has been playing volleyball for 8 years now, she plays school volleyball in the fall and she’s on a travel club team in the spring. She’s the setter of the Milan team but she can also be an all around player. Sarah has played both varsity tennis and varsity soccer while in high school. She started in the top 2 doubles her freshman year playing tennis. Her sophomore and junior year, she was the goalie for the Milan girls soccer team. She said, “ I have had a successful career in sports.” Sarah has been a part of the National Honor Society since her sophomore year and keeps a 3.8 average GPA. After graduation, Sarah plans on attending a 4 year college (hopefully Saginaw Valley State University) and play volleyball on scholarship; she wants to study Early Childhood Education.
