Dundee Female Athlete of the Month: Cassandra Stoner

By Janet Buccirosso

Eighteen year old Cassandra Stoner runs Cross Country for the Dundee High School Vikings. She states that the DHS Vikings Cross Country is her favorite team. In addition to Cross Country, Cassandra also participates in Cheerleading and Track.
Cassandra’s favorite subject in school is Anatomy because she finds it “very interesting and plays a part in what I want to get into during college.”
At home, Cassandra lives with her mom, Susan, and her dad, Todd. They share their space with two cats, Chewy and Mickey and a dog named Judo. Cassandra also has two sisters, Clerissa Fink and Catherine Stoner that live away from home. For relaxation, Cassandra participates in yoga, which is her hobby.
Cassandra is currently carrying a 3.3 GPA and plans on attending either Michigan State University or Eastern Michigan University to pursue a degree in Exercise Science. She would like to continue running on the college varsity team, but if she can’t she will join a club team as she loves the sport.
When asked her advice for other students contemplating joining a school sport, Cassandra stated, “Academics come first but still try out even if you think you’ll struggle. It’s worth the experience.”
Coach Ringbloom says that Cassandra did a great job stepping up this year to help lead the Girls to a 2nd place finish in the LCAA, and a berth to run in the State meet.
