Press release

Police Chief Tim Garbo is pleased to announce that officers of the Dundee Police Department, as well as Dundee Police Reserves and Volunteers will be providing extra holiday cheer to some area families this Christmas season.
With the assistance from staff at Dundee Community Schools, ten underprivileged children have been identified and were selected to participate in the annual “Shop with a Cop” night on Thursday December 6th.
The event will begin at the Dundee Village Office at 5:30 p.m. where the children will be treated to a complimentary meal provided by Papa John’s Pizza of Dundee. Christmas cookies and treats will be provided by Sweet Generations Bakery of Dundee.
After the meal, the children will be transported by Lake Erie Transit on the “Santa Express” bus to Walmart in Monroe. Once there, each child will be teamed up with a Dundee Police officer and will be given $100.00 to spend as they wish. In addition, each family participating will be provided with a $100.00 gift card for groceries and other household needs for the holidays. After the shopping spree, the children will ride the “Santa Express” back to Dundee and return home.
Money used for this event is raised by Dundee police officers and volunteers at their annual charity golf outing each summer. Because of a successful outing this past May, officers will also be providing $50.00 gift cards to several senior citizens in the Dundee area to help them at the holidays.
The Dundee Police would like to thank their own Volunteers in Police Service unit, Lake Erie Transit, Walmart, Papa John’s Pizza and Sweet Generations Bakery of Dundee for their generous assistance with this event.
