Male Athlete of the Month: Jay Davis

Jay Davis, male athlete for February, is a senior at Milan High School.
He was born in St Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor on March 4, 2001. He started attending Milan his 4th grade year after moving from Saline.
Jay has been interested in sports for a long time, he played baseball from 1st-8th grade and wrestled from 5th-present. His dad really influenced him to wrestle because he wrestled in high school and wanted to see Jay do it just like him.
Jay is a team captain on the Milan Wrestling team and he wrestles at the 189 pound weight class and he has wrestled for about 7 years now. He also runs track, the long jump and running the 200m sprint race.
He is also a peer mediator at Milan High School and part of the S.N.A.P. program. Jay is currently enlisted in the Michigan National Guard and plans to leave for basic training in the summer. His plans for after boot camp are to study Healthcare at Eastern Michigan University.
“Davis 189lb Wrestler is a senior at Milan. He was elected to be one of the captains of the team. Jay is a wrestler who shows strong leadership in and out of the wrestling room. He leads by example and is a role model for his peers.  Jay is 13-3 so far this season, and went 4-1 at the big red team tournament this weekend.”, said Coach Kyle Latta.
