Milan High School selected senior Cassidy Jenkins as the Student of the Month 2019. The designation is provided by Congressman Tim Walberg (R-Tipton) for students that demonstrate exceptional characteristics.
In order to be considered, the student must demonstrate exceptional character, display exemplary behavior, serving as a role model to peers, participate in extra-curricular activities, modeling effective study habits, and/or promoting the public good through community service, providing a distinguished standard for all to follow.
Support staff and counselor Mark Rodan said, “We nominate and have consensus based on Walberg’s criteria when selecting our students.”
Jenkins is a top-notch student that carries a 4.667 GPA and is active in school functions.  She is a member of the National Honor Society, an officer in the Fellowship for Christian Athletes and a member of the Code Red Robotics Team.
Rodan speaking for all said of Cassidy, “She is appreciated in classes by staff and peers alike!  She is an asset to Milan High School and will be well received by those she works with after 12th grade!”
Jenkins is deciding to attend either Loyola University in Chicago or Indiana Wesleyan University to study medicine with plans to become a medical missionary.  Post-secondary studies will train her to become either a physician’s assistant or a nurse practitioner. Her favorite class is Spanish, and she may seek a minor in the language.
Pleased to be acknowledged, Jenkins said, “I’m excited to be chosen.”
Jenkins is the daughter of Joel Jenkins of Colorado and Gloria Garabedian-Montesanto of Milan.
