Male Athlete of the Month: Kyle Carey

By Milan Eagle media

Kyle Carey was born on October 12, 2001. When he was in kindergarten he moved to Milan and he’s been here since. Kyle has lived with his mom and his sister since he was 7 or 8 years old. He said, “I couldn’t be more thankful for what my mother does for me.”
Kyle has always been interested in sports. He said, “When it came to basketball it kind of just grew on me. I was influenced by my grandfather when it comes to baseball. He was a huge baseball fan.”
Kyle has played basketball for 8 or 9 years as a point guard. He’s played baseball for about 10 years as a shortstop.
He says he’s not really involved in anything other than sports at the high school. His favorite subject in school has got to be science/chemistry. He likes to learn about the human body and how we work. Kyle plans on attending college after high school but he’s still unsure where and what he wants to study.
Coach Chris Pope said, “ junior Kyle Carey is our starting point guard. It’s his second year on varsity and our leading scorer.  He has been able to thrive with the absence of Evan Furtney, an all Huron League player and Will Hall, a 1st year varsity player that would have been in the top 7 rotation. Both had season ending knee surgery.”
