Having a blast!

By Joyce Ervin

The Milan Free Methodist Church held its annual outreach program, Winterblast, which spoke to and entertained more than 200 youngsters on February 22.  The evening’s theme was based on the film, ‘Toy Story”, but with a Christian twist it became “Joy Story”.
Before the children gathered for the entertainment provided by magician and speaker Brad Brown, the children danced and sang spiritual songs lifting their arms in praise and joined Ministry Director, Julie Caudill in prayer.
Brown had the children laughing from the minute he stepped onto the stage in his colorful jacket.  Through his jokes, riddles and magic he managed to tell his young audience that Jesus loved them, “to infinity and back.”
There were lots of other fun things to do.  Carnival games, giant inflatable slides, video games, laser tag were a few of the fun events youngsters enjoyed.
Food was everywhere.  Popcorn, pizza, nachos, snow cones, and beverages were available. As was a photo station where youngsters could get their picture snapped to remember their fun time.
Token prizes were given for winners of the carnival games and if you were the lucky kid that guessed how many plastic soldiers were in a big glass jar, a packet of books wrapped in a ribbon were yours.
Winterblast was a blast. Caudill said it was once again a pleasure to bring the church’s message, “We believe that Winterblast is a unique event where we can share our message in a fun environment.”
