Money raised for Talon Out Honor Flights

By Joyce Ervin

The Jackson-based American 1 Credit Union is a big supporter of
the communities, where they have
local branches and that includes Milan.
Their 2018 Member Giveback campaign raised more than $314,000 that went to support the Jackson School of the Arts and the Talons Out Honor Flight Organization.
A building in downtown Jackson is being renovated to house the more than 1,000 young people that will use the facility, Laura Pryor, vice president of marketing and communications said.
The Talon Out Honor Flight is one of three veteran’s organizations that offer honor flights that Amer1CU supports, Pryor said.
The honor flight organization recognizes American veterans for their sacrifices and achievements by flying veterans to Washington D.C. to see their memorials.  Top priority is given to World War II and Korean Veterans, as well as, terminally ill veterans.  Pryor said, these organizations are soon to announce flights for Viet Nam era veterans,
An April flight is planned and supported by Amer1CU.  They urge all veterans wishing to travel to Washington D.C. to fill out an application.  There is no charge for this service and you do not need to be a member of the credit union to be eligible.
Pryor said, “We are about 100% for thanking our veterans.  They should be honored.”
