Celeste Hall has been named the 2019 May Student of the Month at Milan High School. The award was initiated by and with the designation provided by Congressman Tim Walberg (R-Tipton) for students that demonstrate exceptional characteristics.
Mark Rodan, counselor and support staff clarified that nominations and selections for the award is based on Walberg’s criteria and staff consensus.
In order to be considered, the student must demonstrate exceptional character, display exemplary behavior, serving as a role model to peers, participate in extra-curricular activities, modeling effective study habits, and/or promoting the public good through community service, providing a distinguished standard for all to follow.
Hall’s mother, Deanna Hall, said she and her father are proud of how their perky, outgoing, sassy-assertive little girl, who has taken those characteristics and grown into an independent young woman of the modern world.  “She’s a real leader,” Deanna Hall said.
She shows her leadership skills as captain of the school’s Girls Soccer team. She also plays and is a co-captain on Southeastern Michigan Storm Soccer Travel team. Also, according to 11th-grade counselor, Annie Kiser, Hall, “Celeste has shown great leadership at Milan. She has a strong sense of integrity, and is willing to do the hard thing and stand up for what is right and better for her and her peers.”
Courtney Jeffers English, yearbook, speech and drama teacher said Hall is an advocate for her own learning being more concerned with understanding skills than the associated with assignments.
Staff Amanda Kaiser said, “During our hosted theater events at the high school during the holiday months, Celeste was a pleasure to have in the theater.  She was a mature, problem solving, and enthusiastic crew member willing to help out in almost any way to make our events run smoothly for the groups renting our space.”
Hall carries a 3.798 cumulative GPA, works at Aubrey’s restaurant on Whittaker Rd. and volunteers for Milan’s summer soccer camp.
Hall was excited and pleased to be recognized saying, “it’s an honor.”   She is the daughter of Deanna and Jeremy Hall.
