May was Motorcycle Awareness Month and cyclists from Abate Region 14 met in Milan to deliver the message to passing motorists on Saturday, May 4 flashing signs and offering hoots and hollers to attract their attention.
Rod Beaton (aka Hot Rod), the State Awareness Director, organized the demonstration. Members were found on West Main St. and also on Dexter St. bringing awareness.
Some of the topics Beaton mentioned they preach to motorists is to share the road, be aware and the main goal, he said, is to acclimate the public to a cyclist’s presence.
Signs can be seen throughout the city calling awareness to cyclists. Riders are reminded to exercise caution as well. Beaton said, “It’s all about safety.”
