Grateful Milan remembers

By Milan Eagle media

Memorial Day the people of Milan filled Marble Park Ceremony remembering and honoring our military, those that served in the United States Armed Forces, and gave for our country. The sunny day, with flags waving, brought out all ages for the ceremonies. Boy Scouts, American Heritage Girls and the Milan High School Band contributed to the special event. Mayor Dominic Hamden reminded us that many never knew us nor did we know them, but they gave for us, our country our freedom. Guest speaker Major Jeremy Barnard shared his most important and humbling mission, flying 3 Heroes that “gave their all” in Afghanistan, on the first leg of their journey home. A flight he and his crew will never forget, itched in their minds and hearts forever. The parade, with Grand Marshals Dwight Mitchell and June Kriss, preceded to Wilson Park where more people gathered, waiting for the 2nd part of the ceremony. American Legion Post 268 invited everyone to join them across the street for a patriotic hotdog lunch at the close of the ceremony.
