Obituary: THELMA M. KELSEY

Thelma M. Kelsey, age 92, died Wednesday morning July 17, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 17, 1927 in Mooreville, Michigan to Myrl A. and Flossie M. (Allison) Murray. On April 13, 1946 she married George Kelsey at York Baptist Church in Milan, and he preceded her in death on September 25, 2013. Thelma is survived by her children: Linda (Marvin) Schultz, Lee J. (Dorothy) Kelsey, Cindy (the late Pastor Timothy) Nyhuis and Marion (David) Compton, ten grandchildren: Jeremy (Laura) Kelsey, Steven (Beth) Waterstradt, Jeff Schultz, Joy (Nate Pride) Burnett, Jeffrey Kelsey, Jason (Nicole) Schultz, JaCinda Jones, Dawn (Matt) Johnston, Jenifer (Roni) Nyhuis, D.J. (Stephanie) Compton; thirteen great grandchildren, a brother Emmett Murray, a sister Frances (Bruce) Phillips, many nieces and nephews and beloved extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Celia Ruth Kelsey and two sisters: Ellen Christian and Luella Mae Obsharsky. Thelma She was a lifelong member of York Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, spending time outdoors, bird-watching, traveling with her family and solving crossword puzzles. Her greatest love was being a homemaker; cooking, sewing and teaching her children to walk with God. Thelma was known to be a very caring. She was a devout, soft-spoken, loving wife and mother who supported her family in all aspects of life. Thelma was quiet and unassuming unless you got her dander up (especially when it came to her children and grandchildren), then “Watch Out”. Her sense of humor made her a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She truly was a joy to be around and always put her faith first.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation was held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home on Friday from 4 – 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at York Baptist Church on Saturday, July 20th at 11:00am. where visitation will begin at 10:00am Burial will follow at Mooreville Cemetery. Contributions may be made to York
