A Red Ribbon Cutting ceremony was held for the new Peppers Mexican Grill hosted by the Milan Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mayor Dominic Hamden was pleased to welcome the new business and complimented the owners on their renovation. The restaurant is bright and welcoming. He further wished them much success.
The owners, Maria and Marcos Garcia, aren’t new to the restaurant business and how to provide delicious meals. They own and operate another restaurant in Bad Axe. They are bringing their expertise to Milan.
The family has relocated to Milan and Maria said, “It’s a nice community, let’s do this.”
Two ladies enjoying a lunch commented on how good the food was. A real lover of Mexican food, Karen Thompson of Saline, said she had eaten at every Mexican restaurant in the area and Peppers is the best.
She raved about her meal saying everything was fresh, the meat for her fajitas was brought to the table sizzling, and she would be back for more. She summed it up with, “Everything is exceptional.”
Visiting from Florida was, Melissa Riggs, who also enjoyed her meal. She said she wished they were near her in Tampa.
With those endorsements and a varied menu including take-out, appetizers, specials, sea food entrees, steaks and grilled items, there should be something for everyone on their
menu.
The restaurant will be adding wine and beer to the menu as soon as their licensing is completed and also outdoor seating.
The event was well attended to include city officials, friends and family. Claudia Hale and Lori Blakeman, who dubbed themselves, Red Ribbon groupies, were in attendance. The ladies say they look forward to welcoming all new businesses.
Hamden mentioned how pleased he was to see the downtown filling up with businesses of all sorts. He jokingly told Marcos he was pleased to see they took two spots.
Maria said she thought their signature dish was Burrito California, that has always been popular.
The restaurant is located at 39 E. Main Street. For reservations or information call 734-628-7170. Hours of operation are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m.
