FORMER BIG RED QB HAS SUCCESS IN COACHING

By Isabelle Schultz

TV viewers of the Michigan State vs Northwestern University football game on September 21 may have seen former Big Red quarterback Jeff Genyk who is now Northwestern’s Special Teams Coordinator. Following graduation from Milan High School in 1978, Genyk played collegiate ball at Bowling Green University. A successful career in coaching led him to Eastern Michigan University where he served as head football coach from 2004 to 2008. In 2009 he left EMU to become a Color Commentator for ACC games on ESPN. After several stints with the University of Nevada, the University of Wisconsin and Vanderbilt University in Tennessee he rekindled a working relationship with Northwestern University and in 2018 was named the Wildcats Special Teams Coordinator.
