Wm Henry Farmer

Farmer, Wm. Henry of Ypsilanti, Michigan passed away December 12, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family, having just celebrated his 85th birthday in November.  Henry was born to John & Ocie Farmer in Whitetop, VA.  and graduated from Lansing High School in Lansing, N.C. where he drove the local school bus.  On May 11, 1956 he married Elizabeth Lucille Trivett.
 Henry followed in his father John’s footsteps in the trucking industry.  He relocated from Virginia to Michigan in the mid-1950’s working as a truck broker for O.E. Gooding Company.  He then worked for Whittaker and Gooding for 29 years and in 1984 he partnered with his son Jeff and son-in-law Scott to form Farmer & Underwood Trucking which is currently based out of Belleville, MI.
 For 20 years Henry enjoyed travelling with his wife Elizabeth, in his motor home to the southern states during the winters and northern Michigan in the summers.
 Henry is survived by his wife of 63 years, daughter Karen (Bill) Dull of TN, son Jeffrey (Bonnie) Farmer of Milan, daughter Susan (Scott) Underwood of Ypsilanti, eight grandchildren: Christopher (Britney) Farmer, Kevin (Sarah) Farmer, Nicholas Underwood, Megan (Andy) Tupacz, Ashley Dull, Whitney (Robert) Fox, Austin (Hailey) Farmer, Billy Dull; six great-grandchildren; two sisters Shirley Weaver, Ann Calhoun and three brothers: Johnny, Leroy, and Doug.
 He is preceded in death by parents John & Ocie Farmer, brothers Larry and Jimmy Farmer, and great-grandson Mason Farmer.
 Visitation will be held at Ochalek-Stark Funeral Home, Milan on Tuesday, December 17th from 3:00pm-8:00pm and at Milan Free Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 18th from 10:00am until time of funeral service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Marble Park Cemetery in Milan. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kindred Hospice of Southfield, MI and Mott’s Children’s Hospital.
